A Wide Open Gate

It is quite simple you see
we see what we want to see
from the ocean waves to the forest trees

Each day becomes what we choose to believe

For perspective is a wide open and closed up gate
It is magic and miracles or cynical and fake
for some know doubt and others know faith

So today I choose to see great things!

Some things have to be believed to be seen. ~Ralph Hodgson

Magnificence surrounds us

it touches sky and souls like wings

it is all a true miracle

from birth to passing on

the freedom to inhale

to see and truly be

I am blessed to have known you

the one that made me surely see

the vision of hope is a freedom

a force as wild as horses with no fence

it is mine and yours to tame and ride

If only we truly will.

I Still See

I am tired, Beloved,
of chafing my heart against
the want of you;
of squeezing it into little inkdrops,
And posting it.
~Amy Lowell,

I still see that little girl
standing before the world
she still exists
if you look a little deeper
though her skinned up knees
have turned into
deeper bruises
the kind that bandages
cannot fix
funny how the years have a way
of changing the view ahead
turning hope into doubt
and skipping into a slow walk
we start out with a nap sack
and end up with a house full
of junk we could easily
live without
weighed down
with too many fears
wrapped in the grief of loss
we cannot forget
still I see that little girl
standing before the world
holding hope like a blanket
that same girl
still exists.

Trying To Touch The Sky

Google Images

"The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision."  ~Helen Keller

All the objects within my view seem so easy to capture within my hands.
The distance between their light and shade is reachable from wear I stand.

Yet, I feel the steps would turn into miles, if tomorrow I lost my sight.
My ability to reach my destination would be like trying to touch the sky.

These hands of mine would certainly have another role to play.
They would no longer just reach out to hold, but guide and lead the way.

My sense of trust would have to increase greater than what I know.
Everything I take for granted now would have a value that would grow.

For sight and true vision are second cousins from distant stars.
One sheds light upon the cornea and the other illuminates the heart.

All We Can See

In the midst of a heavy rain all we might see

is our good shoes getting wet

traveling down the desert path all we might see

is it is a long way to the river

at the end of a barrel of a gun all we might see

is all we love slipping away

staring down the trigger side of a gun all we might see

is everything we hate

at the edge of  mountain top all we might see

is how far we could fall

yet in the deep valley at our darkest place

all we can see

is the way up

and start searching for the light.

How To Know Beauty

Think Tank Prompt #5

You don't need a salon, golden highlights, or curls.

Put away your diamonds, cashmere, and the pearls.

Throw out your mascara, all your powder, and creams.

They only mask what lies underneath.

For the only regimen you really need to start, is to bestow, and behold beauty
through the eyes of your heart.

Greater The Loss

Is it the longing for the majestic sunset
for the man that can no longer see?
Or is it the ignorance of the colors
for the woman who has never seen?
Is it the ache for the one now left
with only recollection of years
of mother's embrace?
Or is it the emptiness for the orphan
who cannot recall her face?
Is it the loss of the mighty tree
burning as it falls?
Or is it the lack of the tree
that never stood at all?
