For you see, each day I love you more
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.
~Rosemonde Gerard

Love is a force that keeps on moving long after the great fall’s end.
Breaking passed safety into danger’s call disregarding life and limb.

It flies head first through broken glass; it leaps blindly into seas and lakes.
Love runs into burning buildings and never stops until all souls are safe.

Love ventures out to the farthest redwood branch never looking down in fear.
It has a mighty focus to reach out boldly to all that it holds dear.

It crawls swiftly inside the lion’s den.  It keeps swimming alongside sharks,
and like the trail of skidding tires on pavement, it always leaves its mark.

For love is a force that keeps on moving long after the sudden crash.
Reaching beyond this world we know into Heaven’s mighty grasp.

Note:

They say you cannot take it with you; all the fortunes we acquire in this world, and I am certain that is true, but there is another thing I am sure of; LOVE can.  Love is the one thing that we not only take with us when we pass, but it is also, the one thing, we truly leave behind within the hearts of those we hold dear.  Love surely is a mighty force that even the hands of war and hate cannot destroy nor stop.

  2. Just beautiful, Carrie! Love is the one emotion that can never be taken from us even in loss of someone, it lives forever.

  3. Love is many things, and nothing at all. Wait. No. Love, is, ultimately the one gift we can choose, to honour and use, to bestow and hold and of course, let go, when it is necessary.

there are some interesting ideas here in the piece ~ I'm struck by "broken glass" and "redwood branches" ... and "marks" ... of course, love is all things. and nothing. Actually, it's damn near impossible to "name it" for all that is ... so yes, best to just carry it, hold it ... and be it, for it does continue to live on as energy, and perhaps, the best gift of Love - is when it grows, expands and amplifies.

thanks again for hosting the Sunday Muse Carrie :)

  4. Nice rhymes in this. when my husband and I were about to get married we had counseling from his minister. The iminster said, of course you love each other enough to die for each other, that is the easy part. Do you love each other enough to crawl over broken glass for the other? This line reminds me of that: It flies head first through broken glass; Excellent poem on love.

  5. Well-penned. Yes, love may end up being so many things for different individuals, and therein lies its interesting touch. I like the idea of love being a force that keeps on moving even after one has crushed. The thought is comforting.

  6. Love is a wild thing. It understand little of reason. It sticks to flesh and bone and soul... Everyone we love becomes a bit of us, even after they are gone. Like your poem suggests, love (even if it's shape and intentions change) is a living thing. Relationships, on the other hand, not so much...

  8. There is a certain lunacy to love, but life's a poor thing without that touch of madness.
