Move Your Heart

Image by by Christian Klein on Pixabay

Linking with Earthweal for the prompt: "Beating the Drums of Change"

Life is its own journey, presupposes its own change and movement, and one tries to arrest them at one's eternal peril. ~Laurens van der Post

Sooner or later rocks get thrown into the middle of the pond ahead,
and ripples flow out until they reach the edge
change is like that it pushed through
and makes all standing still have to move
do not be silent without a song
reach out your hands and move along
clap and tap and drum the beat
move your heart and move your feet
change is like that it does not stand still
it bravely journeys through where danger will
for sooner or later rocks get thrown into the middle of the pond ahead
and ripples flow out until they reach the edge.

Skinned Up Knees

Linking with Imaginary Gardens for "Fussy Little Forms" ~ Chained Rhyme
Imagined by Marian

A "Chained Rhyme" is where  the last syllable or word of each line is followed by a rhyme on the first word or syllable of the next line.
Here is my attempt:

"Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door."
~Coco Chanel

I used to think that my skinned up knees were from the asphalt
fault always seemed easy to find in the path ahead
instead I learned that it was my own steps taken
break en' my groove all by myself and my choice in directions
affections drove me like gravity and magnet's pull
full of lessons learned down gravel roads
closed with signs say en' danger ahead
in red clear as day, but I kept going anyway!

Poop Happens

Linking with Poets United for Midweek Motif ~ Change
Hosted by Sumana

Time is making fools of us again. ~J.K. Rowling

One thing is certain
and I am sure of it
that life is
 full
of uncertainties
if you are breathing
then you have learned
this as well
change is inevitable
it happens effortlessly
like slipping in the rain
or spilling popcorn
it could be  painful
or maybe  wonderful
either way
it is coming
as sure as
sand in your shoes
after a beach holiday
you can't run from it
it follows like a puppy
watch out
don't step on the poop
and don't worry
you will
but the sweet thing is
when it licks
 you on the
face
you can't
help
but smile.

A Cat Named Killer

Tigers die and leave their skins; people die and leave their names.
 ~Japanese Proverb

Call me fickle, or maybe just in need of diversity, but I have decided to change the name of my blog.  I have come across 3 other blogs with the same title, and I have a hankering to come up with something new.
All my blog friends have become dear to my heart and inspire my mind, and I want to make you a part of my decision, so I am going to list all my ideas for names and ask that you comment and give me some feed back on what you prefer.
Here we go:

1. Planting Poems with Ink
2. Poems, Pens, and Kryptonite
3. Echoes of Hope
4. Whisper In a Hail Storm
5. Reflections of a Foolish Poet
6. Lessons=Poetry
7. Recovering Through Poetry
8. Your ideas are welcome (this is not a name) Laugh out loud
9.__________________________________

I look forward to seeing your thoughts and ideas.
Thank you dear blogger friends. :-)

Farewell Again Autumn

"Besides the autumn poets sing,
A few prosaic days
A little this side of the snow
And that side of the haze."
~Emily Dickinson

Dearest Autumn my love so fair
how I wish you would never leave.

Your colors a bounty beyond compare
in your arms I long to cleave.

Our time together too short once more
a twirling dance I don't want to end.

But like a fickle kiss you will ignore
and leave me alone over and over again.

So with these words I take one last gaze
to your mystery and all your charms.

For my heart you always swiftly take
as I await you with open arms.

I know that autumn is long since gone, but it is my favorite season, and when the words came I went with it like the wind.

What is your favorite season?

The Force of Change,

Squall, 1986, by Andrew Wyeth

"The wind shows us how close to the edge we are." ~Joan Didion

.
We are a mere tug boat
 in an ocean of waves.
and like a stern father
winds force pushes us on our way.
We venture onward
far from the touch of land.
Seeking freedom's paddle
within our hands.
We do not settle
nor take down roots.
Nature has a way
of making us move.
For one cannot remain still
in the midst of sea's storm,
as the waters ever changing
 provide their own scorn.
We must ride each wave
brave like a sailor true.
You see that's just what
all good sailors do.

Change Is Like A River

image: River Irwell by R.A.D. Stainforth

Nothing that is can pause or stay;
The moon will wax, the moon will wane,
The mist and cloud will turn to rain,
The rain to mist and cloud again,
Tomorrow be today.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Change is like a river where the waters do not remain.
It is not a stagnant pool that reeks in summer rain.

It bears a current that has an everlasting flow.
Its' travels glimpse adventure that no pond can ever know.

The voyage is at times arduous as life can often prove.
The obstacles in motion can certainly leave a lasting bruise

Yes change is like a river where the waters never cease,
for this life is an endless journey of lessons to be seen.

Change is a word that we rarely are happy to hear.  It could mean we will receive some coins in our pocket, but all too often it may be our comfort zone is about to be swept away, like a fallen hat in a raging river.  It is something we can avoid, and we do despise at times, but without it we would never experience growth in our lives.  We can resist it like a branch in an opening of a small canal, but the more we fight it the more painfull the process becomes.  If we could learn to go with the flow, like a boat in a river, we might just find that the journey of diversity can have a beautiful view on the horizon.

Just Breath

I layed there
still like stone
and slow like callus
waiting for
the ripples
to smooth out
like sheets.

I spent many years hoping for things to go smooth, and afraid of life's troubles rippling out of control.  Now, I have come to understand that all the troubles are what have molded me, like smooth stones on a river. For as a result, I am a better person, a stronger woman, and capable of facing change.
