We All are God's Messengers

Linking with Poets United for the Midweek Motif ~ Biodiversity

"The flower is the poetry of reproduction.  It is an example of the eternal seductiveness of life."
~Jean Giraudoux

They say flowers did not always exist
ferns and cone bearing trees dominated the earth
I say, even Mother Nature likes a change of scenery sometimes.

Everything has a story
a tale to tell
and a message grows from it
like a flower in cracked cement
or a tree in Brooklyn
growth happens
and makes it's own way
through thick and thin
through it all
with each seedling
and every mouth to feed
we find we need each other
the trees give us oxygen
and we give them carbon dioxide
it is quite the arrangement
the kind only God
could have made
and it is His
very own
true
testimony.

  1. I have always thought the intricate interrelated design of everything, all so interconnected, is the greatest proof that God exists. It simply cannot be random. Thank you for this beautiful affirmative poem. Mine was rather fraught, I'm afraid, as the interconnection means so many beings are suffering because of human folly and greed right now.

    Where did they come from?

    1. I do not have an answer to that Sandi. They came from somewhere, because they exist now. When and where specifically is a mystery for me. God only knows, and He I am sure had a hand in that part.

  4. Yes the earth and the its intricate design genius and interdependence is a testament to the Divine.Sadly we are not cherishing our gift and will suffer the
    self inflicted consequences

  5. I can see God's face screwing up and musing, "I think we need a bit of colour there" or "Oops! We can't rely on living things to fertilize themselves, I wonder if we did this?..hmmm! Well they seem happy about that.

  6. And that delicate balance is what we are destroying with climate change and ceaseless plunder of nature- how unfortunate.

  7. "it is quite the arrangement" The line leads me to the Cosmic Mind. There's such grand discipline and some striking exceptions in the universe. And we are such fools to ignore this and run after money & fame.

  8. Love the progression of your poem as you demonstrate the interdependence of all living things. But how sad that human beings feel superior to other species!

  11. Nature is the best of crafters. She has given us so much. How well would live and play, if we--humankind--were not so greedy.
