The Songwriter

Linking with Imaginary Gardens for The Tuesday Platform

~The singer sets the song to flight, but it is the songwriter that gives it it's wings.~

Raise your voice friend
raise it high
let the notes reach
from dawn to night
like a sparrow up in the sky
it has a song and it has to fly
it carries a story under it's wings
and pays it forward when it sings

*******

Raise your voice child
sing it loud
live your dreams
and live them proud
like a sparrow up in the sky
it has a song and it has to fly
it carries a story under it's wings
and pays it forward when it sings

*******
Raise your voice dear
cry out true and strong
give love meaning
give it song
like a sparrow up in the sky
it has a song and it has to fly
it carries a story under it's wings
and pays it forward when it sings

Dedicated to Amber Whitworth and Vicki Rogers, two beautiful songwriters I know and love.

  1. You are pure sweetness, Carrie! If only I had kept all those lyrics from long ago, I could have turned them into poems. You could write song lyrics also! ❤

  7. Such an uplifting poem!
We need such inspiration to dare & dream to fly.
I agree about raising our voice. Had written a poem to empower women as they are the ones who suffer in silence.
    Have a great week!

  8. Like it lots, Carrie. Sometimes I try but not very hard. On a very long plane ride my left seat mate was a Country Western song writer. We talked most of the trip, my big impression was that he had homes in Nashville and in Las Vegas. BTW, my right hand seat mate was Mrs. Jim.
