Linking with Imaginary Gardens for The Tuesday Platform brought to us by Vivian
Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.
~Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha
Frailty
fear
flame
far
finite
futile
frenzy
filthy
facade
fight
faulty
famine
fading
falling
fleeting
flood
final
fungi
fuss
folly
feces
F--- there are a lot of negative words that start with "F"!
But on the positive side:
Fierce
fearless
flow
focus
flourish
flawless
feasible
fine
faithful
friendly
fit
fulfilled
flexibility
free
future
frugality
forgive
flower
fair
fortitude
Female,
Fragile as a flower tough as a flame
the force of a woman's heart
can stop a moving train
we may not have big muscles
but we have a gigantic heart
and when it comes
to molding people
we play the biggest part
we carry an influence
that is heavy like blocks of steel
and in our gentle nature
we have a strength that's real
for we are
fragile as a flower tough as a flame
and the force of a woman's heart
can stop a moving train.
can stop a moving train
we may not have big muscles
but we have a gigantic heart
and when it comes
to molding people
we play the biggest part
we carry an influence
that is heavy like blocks of steel
and in our gentle nature
we have a strength that's real
for we are
fragile as a flower tough as a flame
and the force of a woman's heart

Beautifully said, Carrie! And so true. 😉
ReplyDeleteThank you Vicki!
DeleteCool photo also!
ReplyDeleteBravo! Love the declaration here. We see the strength in women all the time....love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vivian.
DeleteWell done! I like how you listed so many negative "F words" but then followed it with a list of positive ones. As for the poem itself, it's very true! :)
ReplyDeleteLove how you started but even more the end... reminds me the saying of Geishas being like willows because of their subtlety, strength, and grace
ReplyDeleteA wondrous fierce poem!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful a presentation - certainly unique for all the elements and components - and I really like the chant-like quality to the actual poem itself - it highlights that strength isn't necessarily all about muscles and testosterone and aggression. Sometimes the strongest people are wisps!
ReplyDeleteLovely Carrie!
(Pat ~ just in case/'cos it's my other sign-in)
Ah, I am so admiring this "gigantic heart" — I love the chanting quality of it, with its sounds and proclamations. This real strength is very well represented in your verse.
ReplyDelete-HA
Oh I like how you built up to Female... that's right, fragile and tough..both at the same time!
ReplyDeletefragile as a flower tough as a flame
ReplyDeleteand the force of a woman's heart
can stop a moving train.
Rightly so Carrie! The weaker sex is the stronger of the two. Nothing weak in them for all the support women give!
Hank
This is great, Carrie - and the image is cool too!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you start with negative words and then reverse to positive before introducing the best F-word - Female - and then that poem beginning with some of the F-words - flowering on my laptop screen! I love the lines:
'the force of a woman's heart
can stop a moving train'.
Hi Carrie ~~ I like your use of the Fragile Woman, that is the best.
ReplyDeleteI like also how you say it, "Fragile as a flower tough as a flame", plenty of repetition "F's" here.
