The Mighty Things II

"Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point."  ~C.S. Lewis

BRAVERY
It is not the man that can easily do what we are all frightened of,
but the one who is certainly afraid yet dares to do it anyway.

FRAILTY
It is not the heart that is easily broken with compassion,
but the one too hard to feel it that has taken the greatest loss.

POWER

It is not the hand that swings the weapon that holds the most power,
for it can only quickly move us about, but the one that carries the tools of the builders and weaver of the soul that hold the power to change our lives.

  11. Ahh, C.S. Lewis - how I love that quote.

What you said about bravery is just wonderful. "It is not the man that can easily do what we are all frightened of, but the one who is certainly afraid yet dares to do it anyway." This whole post is inspiring - thank you for sharing it with us.

  12. Good strong opening from Mr. Lewis. Always a good one for quotes, and his line certainly sets the mood here - as to the virtues themselves, so true, so true, profoundly expressed and wonderfully delivered. Very effective.

  29. Carrie, beautiful, all three. It's about intention and commitment. Used to tell my daughter, "Just because you can doesn't mean you SHOULD." This applies most to your comments on power... Great stuff! Amy
