"He who cannot forgive breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass." ~George Herbert
It takes courage to live with someone who would harm you night or day,
and even more to just walk away.
It takes love to nurture a child, and hold him through life's trials,
and even more to let go when it is time.
It takes strength to convict a molester, and bring him to justice for his sin,
yet even more to forgive him.

Forgiveness is tough and so very powerful. Love your thoughts, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeletethis is so powerful...speaking as a person who understands the hurt an adult can cause, it is sooooooooooooo hard to forgive, but the only way to truly live.
ReplyDeleteCarrie,
ReplyDeleteForgiveness in the midst of great hurt, is never easy.
A big heart is required.
Best wishes, Eileen
Wow. This is fearless and wise. I'm not sure I would be strong enough for that last one. Fortunately, I haven't had to experience that.

And how many times are we to do this? Seventy times seven?
ReplyDeleteI let this one sit after reading it yesterday. And I came back to read it again.
I'm glad I did.
= freedom (if only in one's mind)
ReplyDeletethank you
filled with strength and tenderness...
ReplyDeletethis is so true...only through His strength...not our own...sorry for your pain, but thankful for your journey through it and hopefully to the other side on some deep levels...thank you for your vulnerability...

ReplyDeleteLove,
Dianne
truth and forgiveness always lead His to freedom
ReplyDelete- - so thankful & glad you made it!!
Letting go of the hurts is the best thing that you can do for self. To carry the hurts & pains only serves to keep on hurting self. When you let go, you allow life to blossom and come back to you in abundance.
ReplyDeleteWithout sorrow, there is no joy
a very important message ....
ReplyDeleteAs long as there is justice it's easier to forgive.
ReplyDeleteso many truths, it does take so much courage...but I notice that the only way to have peace of mind is to do these things...and He knows that :)
ReplyDeletewow, Carrie.
ReplyDeletethis is a topic near and dear to me... ( forgiveness )
thank you for your honest words
Sometimes I don't know if I have the power to forgive certain things. Even though I grew up in church and understand the importance of forgiveness...sometimes I take the long way around to reach a place of forgiving...
ReplyDelete...and sometimes I shove it away so I don't have to think about it. Love your post.
Dear Carrie
ReplyDeleteI agree with it so much and I relate to your post very deeply... Thanks for sharing...

ReplyDeleteSuch powerful thoughts... bold responses, yet the tender response so far outweighs (or releases the weight from our hearts) the first for each scenario. Well done!
