Bittersweet

Linking with the Sunday Muse for the BIG 99th prompt hosted by the utterly amazing poet Shay!
Come join us!.

Love is a sweet tyranny, because the lover endureth his torments willingly. ~Proverb

We all begin whole
Ruby red cheeked
No scrapes nor bruises
Light with the seeds of hope
Held by the hands of love
Yet later that same love is also
The hand that slices us to the core.

  1. Oh my, isn't THAT the sad truth! And yet we all go through it. Wonerful, brief, true. Love it, Carrie.

    1. Awww thank you Shay! That makes my day for sure! I sit here with my hand sanitizer cleaner with gloves all part of what the library is utilizing to try to keep things from spreading while serving the public. Not sure if they will close us down soon or not. We have stopped all programming at the moment.

  5. Broken love is the pits. We don't ever forget, even if we forgive or accept. Just get over it is my advice,
you can carry a grudge but that prolongs things.
Nice write. Carrie. Had this happen three times. One was a parent, of course I couldn't leave, had to stay and tolerate his physical abuse. I did dream of that or suicide.

    1. Good advice Jim. Sorry to hear you went through that. Like the Frozen movies says....."let it go....let it go". Good advice for us all indeed!

  8. All too true. Well-imagined and solidly told. That blade cuts all of us indiscriminately; some heal and some are not so lucky. Your title is perfect.

    1. That is so true Joy! There are those that heal and those that become very bitter. Glad to see you at the 99th Muse!

  9. I would say most of us have experienced that "sliced to the core" in some past romance. Well said!

  10. Ouch! So vivid. I always wondered if the word shouldn't be sweetbitter, as it often works out just that way.
