If you surrender to the wind, you can ride it. ~Toni Morrison
The same struggles
that taught me to hold on for dear life
afraid of the fall
when I was young
are the same ones
that taught me to let go
when I became old
I am not what I was
I am less and yet I am more.
The same struggles
that taught me to hold on for dear life
afraid of the fall
when I was young
are the same ones
that taught me to let go
when I became old
I am not what I was
I am less and yet I am more.
Love the quote and the poem! I like the balance in the idea that what we learn from clinging helps us to learn to fly. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Chrissa. I like that Toni Morrison quote to.
DeleteLetting go get's easier as we age, but, you're not old, silly. Love your poem, Carrie. ❤
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet Vicki. I may not be old, but tell that to my knees and bunions. LOL :-)
DeleteMe too. Me too.
ReplyDeleteThe dog with the butterfly made me laugh!
Yes i so love that dog and butterfly 😍
DeleteYes indeed!
ReplyDeleteYou are a wise woman, dear Carrie.
ReplyDeleteLess and yet more... that is beautiful and wise!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wise and profound write, Carrie 💖
ReplyDeleteYes...we grow in new ways when we get older.
ReplyDeleteIt'd be nice if our older, wiser selves were there to reassure our younger selves that there would be a lot to learn in those falls. But we can be greatful for the wisdom we have now, knowing there is still so much more to learn if we are willing to take chances.
ReplyDeleteAh, this is stemming from a wisdom gained with time. Letting go and being less, yet more both give me something to think about.
ReplyDeleteLovely! :-)

Every word and line of this poem is a truth I have also lived myself. I love it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful words!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone! 😎
ReplyDeleteLess of the bad and more of the good... How wondrous and true... In my heart of hearts, I believe that understanding that is what makes us the best us we can ever be.
ReplyDeleteI'm smiling, Carrie, nice poem. My pick of lines is "taught me to hold on for dear life" which reminded me so much of Mrs. Jim's getting to know me before we married. We were riding my fairly large motorcycle out in the boonies when I shouted back to her, "Hang on!!" She learned quickly as we sailed up and over the mohul in the air. When older? I parked my bike forever when our daughter was born. Forty-four years she has that need no more but still she remembers.
ReplyDelete..
Should be "mogul". Sorry.
