"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."
~Mark Twain
Linking with Poetry Jam
Spring is like a lover
that kisses you on the lips.
While summer is a brother
that hits you with a fist.
Then autumn is a sister
you want to remain close.
Yet lonely's name is winter
that come to leave you all alone.
oy, loneliness is a brutal season...and one that hopefully does not last long as we hope for the next spring....full of feeling carrie...
ReplyDeleteThat was really lovely, carrie
ReplyDelete~and a great quote
Loneliness definitely is a difficult season to endure. Your poem speaks the truth!
ReplyDeleteI so love the title of this poem. Yes, loneliness is the longest season. So true, Carrie.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful flowing poem Carrie :-) And that is one of my favorite quotes!! (San Francisco is one of my favorite cities and well, Mark Twain, is brilliant!)
ReplyDeleteYour poem is beautiful! Having only boys, I had to laugh about the description for summer!
ReplyDeleteNice one! I really liked the title:)
ReplyDeleteVery nice blog photo. Winter is the season of gloom but Mark Twain is right it all depends on what is happening in your life at the moment.
ReplyDeleteConnecting seasons with people .. nice!!
ReplyDeleteA loneliness of a kind that allows a respite from wilds encountered earlier. Winter is a period of reflection to prepare for the year ahead! Nicely Carrie!
ReplyDeleteHank
I agree with Loredana...great analogy: lonliness=winter
ReplyDeleteLovely symbols in each season here--lover, brother, sister--and yes I agree loneliness would be the longest season. Well done and thanks for taking on my prompt!
ReplyDeletesoooo beautiful, Carrie! LOVE this!
ReplyDeletethank you for participating at Poetry Jam!

Well, the Twain quote is marvelous! ANd winter.... well, I find it nice as we all "hibernate" together a bit more. But I do know that the opposite can be true. I loved the comparison to relationships. Nice.
ReplyDeleteI come home to your blog, Carrie and find a shared soul.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Very nicely written, Carrie.
ReplyDeletei like the thought that the seasons are a family, close relations that share your life. Really inspiring poem.
ReplyDeleteA fitting view to accompany the poem and wonderful Twain quote (one of my favorite authors).
ReplyDeleteCarrie,
ReplyDeleteI love your poem which seems to hit the mood exactly as per each season...Winter can be rather depressing for those living alone.
I like your seasonal banner photo, which warms the heart!!
Best Wishes,
Eileen:)
