Linking with the Sunday Muse for Muse #180
Come join us!
“Kiss me, and you will see how important I am.”
―
―
I see your words like birds
Swift high and soon gone
Your lips a force of nature
Breaking hearts like an old love song
Beauty is like that
Strong yet it makes us weak
We long to kiss the lips
Unable to even speak
But your words are like missiles
Headed straight for the heart of France
I see the danger ahead
yet still I choose the dance.
Ah, the old push-me pull-you of dangerous desire!

ReplyDeleteHeaded straight for the heart of France" LOL! So good! The land an language of love about to get nuked!
I love that you had to send missiles to France to rhyme with dance! "Breaking hearts like an old love song" ... great line!
ReplyDeleteStrong beauty and words like missiles are an irresistible combination. Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteStrong yet it makes us weak

Hank
I noted the same lines qbit did. Very fine!
ReplyDelete" yet still I choose the dance" is a coveted quality of a true explorer.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are doing well now.
..
A wonderful poem...the dance is irresistible.
ReplyDeleteLove the mix of images, especially the contrast between the birds and the missile. Both the high and the impact!
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent, sharp and full of truth, Carrie. Desire and beauty always walk hand in hand with danger and loss, and perhaps that's the very thing about them we can't resist. Those two opening lines are a wonderful, potent visual to set the poem flying. Loved it.
ReplyDelete"I see the danger ahead
ReplyDeleteyet still I choose the dance"
For the sake of this magnetic force called love.
Happy Sunday. Thanks for dropping by to read mine.

Sometimes, love can be disastrous, yet we choose to dance. Most likely to get burned in the end. Witty filled with hidden truth.
